25 years Young!

Having congratulated Draughtsman Neil Petrie on reaching 25 years with the company in October, neaco are congratulating another loyal and valuable employee on reaching the same milestone. Factory Operative Simon Young, who works in the powder coating and assembly sections, joined us back in November 1987 and in recognition of his role in the company’s success neaco gave him a donation towards some new hi-fi equipment.

Managing Director Alan Green said: “Simon has always been a highly reliable employee with an attention to quality and detail in keeping with neaco’s philosophy. Reaching 25 years with a company is a great achievement and everyone at the company would like to thank Simon for his valuable contribution to neaco’s success. We hope that he will continue to work with us for many more years to come.”

Farewell and thank you to our friend Lynda!

neaco would like to bid a fond farewell to a loyal and well liked employee with the retirement of our office cleaner, Lynda Wilson.

Lynda joined neaco in January 1999 and over the years she has proved to be a very reliable and hard working staff member who has made many good friends at our Malton head office. Managing Director Alan Green presented Lynda with a bouquet of flowers and a bottle of champagne to thank her for her service.

Alan said: “Everyone at neaco is sad to see Lynda leave and we will certainly miss her. We all wish Lynda a very enjoyable retirement and a happy future – she will now be able to indulge her passion for travel and enjoy quality time with her family.”

Neil celebrates 25 years with neaco

neaco would like to salute another loyal and valuable employee as Draughtsman Neil Petrie celebrates 25 years with the company. Neil moved house three months ago, so we decided to congratulate and thank him with a £750 IKEA gift voucher to spend on furnishing his new home.

Neil said: “I joined neaco straight from college and it has always been a fantastic company to work for. My work involves developing new ideas and concepts on a daily basis – I still enjoy that challenge and the constant variety it brings.”

Managing Director, Alan Green, said: “Neaco has a track record of long-serving employees – I think much of that is due to the fact that we believe in supporting and nurturing talented people and Neil is a good example of this. He has really grown with neaco and his technical expertise has become an extremely valuable asset to a company which prides itself on continual design innovation. We hope that Neil continues to enjoy his time with us for many years to come.”

Neaco’s Spectrum balustrade becomes a church regular

A combination of contemporary performance and a design versatility which can meet the aesthetic of traditional buildings has made neaco’s Spectrum balustrade and structural glass range a popular specification for church developments.

In recent years a variety of major church refurbishments and redevelopments have featured Spectrum, a pre-engineered modular system which offers a huge range of design options and finishes. These projects required Spectrum to integrate within buildings which are centuries old, demanding the ability to adapt to their distinctive ecclesiastical style and structurally restrictive features.

Neaco’s Managing Director, Alan Green, comments: “Church developments have very particular demands. They invariably involve the sensitive refurbishment of a historic listed building with a design scheme which refreshes its interior yet works in harmony with its original character and layout. It’s a difficult balance to achieve but I’m pleased to say that our Spectrum range has been very successful in doing so across several extensive redevelopment projects, including Holy Trinity Church in Ripon, Norton St. Phillip Church in Somerset and St. Peter’s Church in Arnesby. The launch of Timberline, our wood-effect aluminium balustrade system, means that we are now better equipped than ever to meet the aesthetic demands of traditional church buildings.”

At Holy Trinity Church in Ripon, Spectrum Clearline structural glass was specified by RBA Moody Bros (Contractors) Ltd for balustrading on a mezzanine floor. The installation formed part of an exciting and sensitive reordering of the historic building, which dates back to 1827, undertaken to create more space for church and community events.

A spokesman for RBA Moody Bros said: “Neaco were engaged to supply and install the bespoke structural glass balustrading for this prestigious project as a result of their technical and costing assistance during the tender and design process. Once the order was placed with neaco, their positive attitude continued – they worked diligently and pro-actively with ourselves and the project engineers to ensure that all the ‘tricky’ detailing relative to the facetted balustrading was thoroughly investigated and practically resolved in a manner that in no way compromised the aesthetic aspirations of the client.”

At Norton St. Phillip Church, Chedburn Design and Conservation designed new facilities for the Grade II listed building in Somerset. The project won Country Life’s Village Church for Village Life Award as the finest example of a church being adapted to serve the 21st-century needs of its village. Spectrum balustrade formed part of the development’s key design feature: a steel, glass and wood structure known as The Hub which has transformed the use of the building. Neaco’s stainless steel balustrade with glass infill was selected to complement traditional oak panelling.

Angela Dudley of Chedburn said: “We were very happy with Neaco’s contribution to the project. They produced a balustrade design which was ideally suited to our requirements and their team of installers completed the work to a very high standard.”

At St. Peter’s Church in Arnesby, Neaco worked from a brief which required unobstructed access to the church bells above the balustrade for occasional maintenance purposes. They collaborated with Corporate Architecture to produce a solution in which the whole unit, including glass panel infills, could be easily lifted from its anchoring set into the floor.

Jason Edwards of Corporate Architecture said: “We’ve used Neaco’s Spectrum balustrade on previous projects and knew it was a system of proven quality, but Neaco helped us to modify its usual specification – rather than using permanent wall fixtures, everything is secured in place with a base in which the removal of a few key fixings allows the balustrade to be removed, thereby allowing easy access to the church bells. The design works superbly and we also specified Neaco’s flat-bar stanchion option to maximize visibility for the view of the church’s stained glass.”

The Spectrum balustrade range features a comprehensive choice of infills, from toughened glass and rails to mesh and grilles. Neaco’s portfolio also includes balconies, inclusive bathroom facilities and aluminium open grille systems.

Aluminium grilles hold all the aces for bridge decks!

neaco’s Techdek aluminium grilles have become a popular choice for bridge applications, having been specified as decking for pedestrian or cycleways at some of the UK’s most prestigious bridge schemes.

Techdek’s T-Bar profile provides a 74 per cent contact area on the surface yet drains water efficiently and its swage-locked construction between the bars enables high structural efficiency. Those qualities – combined with maintenance-free durability and the option of a serrated anti-slip surface for increased safety – make Techdek aluminium grilles ideal for the external conditions and high traffic demands of a bridge.

neaco’s Managing Director, Alan Green, comments: “Bridge developments have become a major market for our Techdek aluminium grilles and we are proud to have the product featured on some of the UK’s most high-profile bridge projects in recent years. In addition to its many practical qualities, Techdek provides a high architectural aesthetic that is manufactured to last. The aluminium grilles are extremely versatile and can be used in many other applications, including staging, modesty screens, solar shading, balustrade infills, maintenance galleries and roof access walkways.”

Techdek’s modular aluminium components are precision manufactured off-site and easy to assemble with no welding required. neaco’s diverse product range also includes modular handrail and balustrade systems, Juliet balconies, step-out balconies, structural glass and inclusive bathing facilities. Aluminium grilles make a grand entrance!

neaco’s Techdek aluminium grilles have been specified as a prominent feature at the £14 million Drayton Manor Hotel development in Staffordshire.

Forming an impressive horseshoe-shaped design above the main entrance, the aluminium grilles were chosen to provide flooring for balconies on the second and third floors. Designed by John Pass Associates and built by A & H Construction, the dramatically styled luxury Hotel comprises 150 bedrooms across four storeys with extensive conferencing and hospitality facilities to complement those already offered at Drayton Manor Theme Park. neaco’s Managing Director, Alan Green, comments:

“Techdek is suitable for a multitude of applications, from modesty screens and solar shading to roof access walkways, but in recent years it has become an especially popular specification for balcony flooring. Drayton Manor Hotel is the latest development to use Techdek aluminium grilles in this way and we are pleased to have contributed towards one of its signature design elements.”

Other products in neaco’s portfolio include structural glass, balustrade, balconies and a range of assisted showering aids including true-level access and easy access shower systems, wet-floor formers, half-height shower enclosures, shower seats, grab rails and support rails.
