Louvredek integral to college’s striking entrance

Neaco’s Louvredek combined sunscreen/walkway was selected as a key element in the visually striking entrance at Sheffield College’s Hillsborough Campus development.

The lead consultant and architect, Jefferson Sheard, specified Neaco’s solar shading louvres for the £27m new build scheme’s highly visible entrance, which was designed to create aesthetic impact and increase the College brand. The front northwest and southwest vertical elevations comprise 1500m2 of glass which allows abundant the penetration of natural light. Louvredek has been installed to reduce the net heat gain (commonly in the order of 20-40%) of sunlight striking the glass.

The Hillsborough campus, in the north of the city, is the college’s creative hub. Art and Design, Photography, Fashion, and Music departments are all based at the campus alongside more traditional courses such as A-Levels and its highly regarded Sports base.

The facilities at Hillsborough include numerous Mac suites, sprung dance studios, a theatre and a TV studio. The building also has a stage production workshop for set design and prop making, a gym, a 3G sports pitch and a sports hall which is available for use for all. The Hillsborough campus also has an Ofsted Outstanding rated nursery onsite.

Neaco manufactures a wide range of other products, including balustrade, balconies, aluminium decking and adaptive bathing facilities.
